Essentuki Fans watch Mikel, Iwobi in Eagles first training

Super Eagles of Nigeria trained on Tuesday for the first time at the Eseentuki Arena to the delight of fans who turned out to catch a glimpse of what the three-time Africa champions have to offer at the FIFA World Cup which begins on Thursday. Host nation Russia will face Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the tournament.

More than a hundred locals witnessed the likes of Ahmed Musa, captain John Mikel Obi, John Ogu, Alex Iwobi and others drilled by head coach Gernot Rohr which was captured in a video clip posted on the twitter account of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“Essentuki and its people turn up for @NGSuperEagles’ first training ahead of Croatia #WorldCup clash,”
the NFF tweeted.

The training which lasted an hour started at 4pm which is 2pm Nigeria time.

The Super Eagles will again train on Wednesday before departing for Kaliningrad on Thursday
for their first Group D match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Croatia on Saturday at the 35,000-capacity Kaliningrad Arena.

The Eagles who arrived in Russia on Monday will be based in Eseentuki for the tournament.
