Super Eagles and Watford midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has hailed compatriot Emmanuel Dennis for his debut goal for Watford in the Premier League.

Dennis scored and assisted another goal as Watford defeated Aston Villa 3-2 to mark their return to the Premier League in style.

Speaking to Watford’s Hivelive after the game, Etebo said, it is “a joy” to watch his compatriot scoring on his debut at Vicarage Road.

“It’s very important as a team to score first and when you get an early goal it motivates everyone, keeps the positive vibes going and everyone keeps pushing,” said Etebo.

“I’m happy for my Nigerian brother [Dennis] and Sarr as well. They did well, you can see they’ve got good pace, they run forward and are direct players.”

The Nigeria international, who joined the Hornets on loan from Stoke City this summer, played all the 90 minutes for the Xisco Munoz’s side.
