Stoke manager, Gary Rowett provided an insight on the fitness level of the Nigerian while speaking to newsmen on Thursday ahead of the match. Etebo has been on the sidelines since returning from the international break which has made him miss three matches.

“We had a couple of knocks and niggles this week, but I will be keeping my cards close to my chest until kick-off,” Rowett told reporters on Thursday.

“There are some who are close like Sam Clucas and Peter Etebo, but what we have to do is make sure we don’t bring them back too early and put them at any risk.

“There are decisions I am going to make and there are situations that I will have to monitor over the next 24, 48 hours,” disclosed Stoke manager Gary Rowett.

Etebo who has been injured has made 11 appearances for Stoke City since joining from La Liga side Las Palmas this season.

He has been named in Nigeria’s squad for its decisive fixture against South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg and the friendly against the Cranes of Uganda.
