Europa League: Moses Benched as Chelsea Secure Victory in Greece

Though he was on the subtitute list, but the Nigerian-Chelsea, Victor Moses will have to wait for a future date to taste action for the Blues under the new head coach, Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea made all three substitutes with Moses remaining on the bench for the 90 minutes Europa League action which the visitors won 1-0 against PAOK Thessaloniki FC

Willian’s early goal was enough to secure Chelsea’s sixth consecutive victory and and it was also the first game which PAOK Salonika would lose against an English opposition.

Before the match the Nigerian-Chelsea winger was a capable option in place of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro.

The 59-year-old Italian tactician said: “There is in the future. Now it is very difficult because in the first part of the season it is very important to play with a very solid team.

“I might change four or five players, it is impossible to change every player in the match. For Odoi in his position in the last match played Pedro and Hazard.

“I have also played [Victor] Moses and Willian. [Ethan] Ampadu, Odoi and Loftus are the future.”

This was Chelsea’s first experience of the Europa League since 2013, the year they defeated Benfica in the final with a vintage team including Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres. Chelsea played here like defending champions.
