Euros top scorers: Cristiano Ronaldo leads with five goals

The Euro 2020 group stages wrapped up on Wednesday night and plenty of players are still in the running to claim the Golden Boot for the tournament’s top scorer – but they will have to catch Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal star Ronaldo had scores three times in his opening two games of the tournament, and bagged a penalty brace against France on Wednesday to make it five goals so far to take himself top of the standings.

In joint second are Belgium star Romelu Lukaku, the Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick, Netherlands midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, Sweden’s Emil Forsberg and Poland’s Robert Lewandowski with three goals apiece.

Next up is Manuel Locatelli, with a well-taken double for Italy in a 3-0 drubbing of Switzerland, as well as fellow Azzuri forward Ciro Immobile. Germany’s KaiHavertz has a brace along with KarimBenzema, recalled to the France squad after years in the international wilderness.

Ukraine stars Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko also have two apiece, while Netherlands duo Denzel Dumfries and Memphis Depay have doubles for the tournament as well along with Switzerland talisman Xherdan Shaqiri.

Denmark’s Yussuf Poulsen and Croatia winger Ivan Perisic have also notched braces, and there is an England player on the list with Raheem Sterling finding the net twice.
