Everton star spotted on crutches after surgery

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has been pictured on crutches after undergoing successful surgery on his horror ankle injury on Monday

The Portuguese player suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle following a rough tackle from Tottenham’s Son Heung-min in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Son was sent off for the tackle, but his red card has been overturned by the FA.

A statement on the club’s official website said: “Following a successful operation yesterday, Andre Gomes has now been discharged from hospital and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of the Everton medical team.

“The Blues midfielder underwent surgery to repair a fracture dislocation to his right ankle yesterday, with the procedure going extremely well.”
