Ex-Chelsea star desiring shock Stamford Bridge return

Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Júnior has suggested he would like to make an extraordinary return to Chelsea to end his career in west London.

The Brazilian midfielder played for Chelsea between 2012 and 2017. He made 203 appearances for the club before stunning the world by joining Chinese side Shanghai SIPG.

Oscar was one of the first of a wave of players who left Europe for the financial luxuries of the Chinese Super League. He remains with Shanghai SIPG to this day, having scored 45 goals from 145 games for them.

Now 29 years old, Oscar is approaching the end of his prime years – a period of his career few would have expected to be spent outside Europe.

He remains under contract with his current club until 2024, but is setting his sights on a future return to Chelsea that would be just as surprising as when he left them.

“I think about finishing at Chelsea because I had good times before at Chelsea,” Oscar told talkSPORT.

“Chelsea helped me a lot to improve and to do what I always dreamed [of], which was to play in the Champions League and they helped me to play in the World Cup and to win the Premier League.

“I have a lot of friends at Chelsea. If I have a chance to finish my career at Chelsea, it’s a dream for me.

“Of course, Chelsea don’t like to buy too many older players, which is normal because it’s a top team from Europe, but I will try my best to be fit to finish there.”
