Ex-Eagles star denies begging Hoffenheim for contract

Ex-Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi has rubbished reports making round in the media that failed to land a deal with former Club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

It’s was reported last week that the 2010 FIFA World Cup striker failed had a trial with the German Bundesliga outfit and was told by the management to seek his 10th career club elsewhere.

The 34 year old has now rubbished the reports, and said he only approach the club to allow him train in order to maintain his fitness.

“The correct story is that I was training here and a reporter asked me, what if it happens that I end up here and I said that would be a dream come true but that was only answering the question of the reporter but the way they put it out looked like I went to seek contract and was not offered one.”

“No, it wasn’t like I went there to beg for a contract.”

“I am not training with the team, there is a rehab centre which belongs to the club that I train in.”

“The reporter then asked me how it feels being back here where it all started and I told him that it feels so good and he asked, if I see myself playing here again of which I laughed and said that, that will be a dream come true to finish where it all started,” he added.

Obasi is currently unattached after he was released by his last Club AIK, however he’s ready to take any up offer that his way.

“I am open to any offer, I just wanna play football and it doesn’t have to be in the Bundesliga,” Obasi summed up.
