Ezenwa returns to Nigeria with Messi’s jersey

Nigeria goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will be returning to the country from the FIFA World Cup with the jersey
of Argentina captain Lionel Messia despite the elimination of the Super Eagles.

Ezenwa who did not taste action throughout the tournament was caught on camera as he approached the player while he was heading for the tunnel after the match.

Not even the mood in the Super Eagles camp at that time could stop Ezenwa from accomplishing his mission.

An excited  Messi who scored one of Argentina’s goals that saw them book their spot in the round of 16 gladly gave Ezenwa his match shirt.

The 29-year-old, who has 24 caps to his name aappeared to have been the only player to ask Messi for
his jersey.

Ezenwa who was Nigeria’s third choice keeper was in goal against Cameroon both home and away during the
World Cup qualifiers.

Marcos Rojo bagged a late winner to book Argentina’s spot in the last-16 and set up a clash against France.
