Fallout of Juve defeat: Ronaldo snubs pitch invader who wanted a selfie

Cristiano Ronaldo shoved a pitch invader away as the hopeful fan tried to get a picture with the star.

The Juventus forward, 35, was in no mood for selfies as his side lost 1-0 at Lyon in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

And with Juve chasing the game to try and find an equaliser and important away goal, one speculative spectator tried his luck.

He managed to avoid the security guards and reach the Portugal hero.

But Ronaldo gave him a push away, wagging his finger to tell him to go away and then waving his arm in frustration.

The bumbling stewards finally caught up with the fan but made a pathetic attempt to stop him, with one of the three slipping on his backside.

That allowed the fan to fall on to his knees at Ronaldo’s feet, hugging his legs in a bizarre act of adoration for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ex-Real Madrid man Ronaldo half hugged the pitch invader and half wrapped his arms around to drag him back up to his feet so he could get on with the game as the stewards finally hauled him away..

One wrote: “As if a pitch invader came on that talk to Ronaldo while they are chasing a goal. Yeah that’s gonna make him happy.”

Another said: “Did Ronaldo just wave off a pitch invader. Nice!”

And a third added: “Ronaldo nearly slapped pitch invader,” followed by a series of laughing emojis.

After full-time, he appeared in a better mood as he posed for photograph with fans behind the scenes at the Groupama Stadium.

Ronaldo is regularly the subject of fans hoping to meet him on the pitch – and is usually obliging.

He was almost given a smooch on the lips by one fan in March 2018 while playing for Portugal, left one supporter in tears after a selfie and even allowed one kid to sit on the bench with him during a pre-season game against Tottenham.

But it has not always been so well received – in December, he was furious with a fan who grabbed his neck after full-time against Bayer Leverkusen.

And his final touch for Real Madrid was ruined when a supporter interrupted his attack in the dying seconds of the 2018 Champions League final.

Matthijs de Ligt suffered a very bloody blow to the head after colliding with team-mate Alex Sandro – and while he was off the field receiving treatment, Lucas Tousart volleyed in the only goal of the game.

At the other end, Juve failed to register a single shot on target and have plenty of work to do to reach the Champions Leauge quarter-finals when they host the Ligue 1 outfit on March 17.
