Fans attack Lioness player’s home after penalty miss against Falcons

Soccer fans in Cameroon have descended on the family home of Indomitable Lionesses forward, Gaelle Enganamouit for failing to convert her penalty against Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Wednesday’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations semi final clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Nigeria edged out their bitter rivals 4-2 in penalties after 120 minutes to reach the final.

Enganamouit’s family home according to reports on Twitter was vandalised by the irate fans.

The player who stepped her to take the country’s third kick saw her penalty saved by Falcons keeper, Tochukwu Oluehi.

‘Relatives of Enganamouit claim people threw rocks at the family residence. “It is a very unpatriotic and outrageous,” said Joseph Ndoko on Twitter.’

Cameroon will now face Mali in Friday’s third place match to determine who picks the last FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket and the bronze medal.

Recalled in 2005, Lions of Cameroon defender, Pierre Wome escaped death following his 95th penalty miss against Egypt which denied the country a place in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
