Fans Gather at Bourget Airport in Paris waiting for Messi

Football fans stormed Bourget Airport in anticipation to welcome Argentinian football player Lionel Messi into Paris.

Messi is said to have agreed on a contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Earlier in the day, media reported that he is expected to sign a contract with PSG later on Tuesday.

On Sunday, speaking to the FC Barcelona board and players, Lionel Messi reacted to his departure in tears, and mentioned that joining PSG was ‘a possibility’.

On Thursday, the Barcelona football club announced it would not sign a new contract with Messi, citing financial and structural obstacles. The 34-year-old has been a free agent since 1 July.
