Popular Super Eagles’ star, Ahmed Musa was mobbed by excited fans at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport yesterday as he arrived in the country from his base in Saudi Arabia.
Musa became a hero after emerging as the first Nigerian to score in two FIFA World Cup competitions, after scoring twice against Iceland in the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
SportingLife.ng gathered that the ex-Leicester City forward made the visit to the country to attend to personal issues barely 48 hours after winning the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League (SAPFL) title with Al Nassr, which recorded a 2-1 victory over Al Batin at the King Fahd International Stadium, Riyadh.
Musa featured for 62 minutes before he was substituted by Matheaus Petros on Thursday.
Pictures of the pacy forward went viral on social media yesterday with many fans taking their turn to take selfies with the likeable footballer at the Kano Airport.
Unless he is exempted, The Nigerian international who scored seven goals in 24 league appearances for Al Nassr in the just concluded season would likely be going back to the Middle East as Al Nassr host Iranian side Zob Ahan on May 21 for their final AFC Champions League group fixture.
Next month, Musa who was named in Nigeria’s 25-man provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will join the rest of his international teammates in Asaba for their first training camp.

 

The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group B against Burundi, Madagascar and Guinea while the Atlas Lions are up against South Africa, Namibia and Ivory Coast in Group D.
