Fans mock Man Utd for showing interest in Ighalo, Slimani

Manchester United have been ruthlessly mocked on social media after reports emerged of their new transfer interest.

Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Carlos Tevez have been linked with an Old Trafford switch this week.

But it now looks like the Red Devils are looking at slightly smaller names such as Odion Ighalo and Islam Slimani.

Sky Sports report the duo are the latest players wanted by United, who are seeking a short-term replacement for the injured Marcus Rashford.

Ighalo and Slimani are plying their trade at Shanghai Shenhua and Monaco respectively.

And rival fans think the duo being linked with Old Trafford moves shows how far United have fallen.

“At least they’ve humbled themselves and are shopping at their level,” one tweeted.

“This is where you know you are finished as a club,” said another.

“From targeting Jovic and Cavani to looking at Ighalo and Slimani. It’s like they’re parodying themselves at this point,” one added.

“BIGGEST CLUB IN THE WORLD we’re told,” said a fourth, followed by endless laughing emojis.

“Ole’s pulling power,” joked one.

Ighalo has been in China since leaving Watford back in 2017.

The striker was prolific for a spell at Vicarage Road before seeing his goals dry up.

Slimani was signed for £25m by Leicester but failed to hit the same heights as when at Sporting Lisbon.

The Algerian went on loan to Newcastle but failed to impress.
