Felix Uduokhai on target as Augsburg hit Dortmund 2-0

Nigeria born Germany Junior international Ohis Felix Uduokhai was on target as Augsburg handed Borussia Dortmund a 2-0 defeat at the WWK Arena on Saturday.

Uduokhai was set up by teammate Daniel Caligiuri in the 40th minute and the 23 year old did not waste time in sealing the opportunity.

Caligiuri did not stop at providing the assist but equally scored in the 14 minutes later to put the score line at 2-0 in favour of the homers who held on tenaciously to the lead till the final whistle. Interestingly it was Caligiuri’s 300th league appearance.

If possession were all that was needed to win a match Dortmund would have been the ones singing victory song as they had lion share of the possession about 80 per cent

Dortmund stars Erling Haaland, Giovanni Reyna and Jude Bellingham who had been tipped prior to the match to do the magic for the visitors, went without a single chance for more than 70 minutes with Jadon Sancho struggling to find space.

As if losing a match they had been tipped to win was not enough pain, Dortmund were also left aggrieved when they were denied a second-half penalty for a foul on Reyna as Lucien Favre’s men could not avoid dropping points for the first time this season.

Uduokhai who completed a permanent deal with Augsburg at a fee of 9 million euros in June this year has featured for Germany U-19, 20 and 23 sides but is eligible to play for either Nigeria or Germany senior national team

Bayern Munich, who won their fourth title of the year on Wednesday with a Super Cup win over Sevilla, travel to Hoffenheim on Sunday.
