FIFA Ranking: Eagles remain 47th in the World

Nigeria’s Super Eagles remain unchanged in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday by the football governing body, Sportinglife.ng reports.

Nigeria retained its 47th position in the world and sixth in Africa behind Tunisia, Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco and Egypt. The Eagles have a chance of improving their ratings after its friendly matches against Congo DR, England and Czech Republic.  Congo DR who play the Eagles on May 28 in Portharcourt are 38th in the world.

Meanwhile there was no movement for Nigeria’s World Cup Group opponents, Argentina, Iceland and Croatia on the table who are still better rated. Argentina (5), Croatia (18) and Iceland (22)

It is the same for the other four Africa World Cup representatives Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Senegal who did not move.

Germany remain first and are followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina in that order.

In sixth place are Switzerland, France seventh, Spain eighth, Chile ninth and Poland 10th.

The next FIFA ranking will be published on June 7 before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup which begins on June 14.
