FIFA Women’s World Cup: Falcons, France match sold out

Federation of International Football (FIFA) has revealed that tickets for the Group A game involving France and Nigeria’s Super Falcons at this year’s Women’s World Cup have been sold out.

This was disclosed on the official Twitter handle of the football governing body.

“TICKET UPDATE 🚨 The Group A match between 🇳🇬 (Nigeria) and 🇫🇷 (France) on 17 June is now SOLD OUT,”  FIFA tweeted.

Over 535,000 tickets have so far been sold ahead of the tournament which will be held  in nine cities namely Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes. The sale of match tickets was declared open last week by FIFA.

The Stade de la Route de Lorient stadium which would host the Nigeria, France match on June 17 has a seating capacity of 29,778 . According to figures, France supporters lead the purchase sales with U.SA. and Netherlands following.   Besides the opening game between France and Korea Republic which goes for 25 Euro all the other group matches including the Nigeria, France fixture goes for N3,631 (9Euro).

The Falcons have another opportunity of redeeming their image against the Europeans whom they lost to 8-0 in a friendly  last year.

Nigeria who finished seventh at the just concluded Cyprus Women’s Cup begin their world cup campaign against reigning Algarve Cup champions, Norway on June 8 at the Stade Auguste-Delaune, Reims.

On June 12, they face Korea Republic in their second group game at the Stade des Alpes, Grenoble. Recalled the Falcons lost 3-0 to the Koreans at this year’s Invitational Women’s Tournament in China.

France will host the competition from Saturday, June 7th to Sunday, July 7th.
