FIFPro Africa’s Best XI: Ex-Eagles star faults CAF over Ighalo’s blackout

Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph says China-based forward Odion Ighalo deserves a place in FIFPro Africa’s Best Eleven.

The Africa XI was unveiled during the 2019 CAF award night on Tuesday night in Cairo, Egypt, with no Nigerian making the cut.

Ighalo was impressive during the 2019 AFCON qualifiers where he emerged the top scorer with seven goals.

And during the tournament proper in Egypt, Ighalo netted five times to cart home the golden boot.

Reacting to Ighalo’s blackout, Dosu, who claimed gold at 1996 Olympic took to social media to express his disappointment with the continent’s football governing body.

“This CAF award…….Hmmmmmmm, AFRICA 11, no Nigerian player, even top goal scorer Jude Odion Ighalo not in the list,” Dosu posted wrote on his Facebook page.

The list of FIFPro Africa’s Best Eleven include Cameroon’s Andre Onana and Joel Matip, Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly and Idrissa Gueye, Cote d’Ivoire’s Serge Aurier and Morocco’s duo Achraf Hakimi and Hakim Ziyech.

Others are Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez and Gabon’ s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
