Former Chelsea star considering MLS move

Former Chelsea star, Salomon Kalou, is considering extending his playing career in United States’ Major League Soccer.

The 34-year-old is currently playing for Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin but has been forced to look for playing times elsewhere after finding himself unable to break into the first team.

Hertha Berlin director of football Michael Preetz confirmed that Kalou was looking to move. “He is currently examining the options with his advisor,” he said in statements reported by the German press.

The former Lille forward has only played seven times this season under former coach Jurgen Klinsmann. His agent will be seeking to find a suitor in the American league whose transfer window is still open until May.

Kalou joined Bundesliga side Hertha BSC on a three-year contract in 2014. In his first full season at the Berlin-based club, he played 27 times in the league, scoring six goals and helping Hertha avoid relegation.

At the beginning of the 2015–16 Bundesliga season, Kalou swapped number 11 for the vacant 8 shirt after the departure of Marcel Ndjeng to SC Paderborn. This was the same number he wore during his stint at Lille as well as with the Ivorian national side.
