Former Super Eagles midfielder charged with match fixing

Former Super Eagles midfielder Dickson Etuhu is under investigation for being in possession of a banned
substance. He is also been charged with bribery.

The 36-year-old who now works as an agent after 14 years of playing the round leather game has denied
the allegations.

According to the Times, the former Nigerian international has been accused of offering a bribe to his
former AIK Stockholm team-mate Kenny Stamatopoulos to fix a match against Gothenburg last year.

The match in question was cancelled by the Swedish authorities.

“He has not offered any bribe and he does not know anything about any bribe. He had a snack with the
AIK goalkeeper, they knew each other and used to meet for lunch. “He has an explanation of what
happened and we will present it during the trial,” Etuhu’s lawyer Johan Akermark told newsmen.

The ex-Sunderland and Fulham midfielder played 33 times for Nigeria including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
