In an action-packed fight night in South Africa, Nigeria’s African Boxing Union featherweight title champion, Waidi ‘Skoro’ Usman suffered his third defeat as a professional boxer when South African featherweight champion Azinga Fuzile knocked him down in the eighth round.

Fuzile and Usman were fighting for the vacant International Boxing Federation Continental Africa Super Featherweight Title at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday night.

Usman had no answer to the speed and southpaw stance of Azinga Fuzile as his tactic to block and wear Fuzile down could not materialize.

The 22 year old South African bombarded Usman with solid body punches that seemed to hurt his rib cage and denied him breathing space to continue with the fight.

Referee Deon Dwarte had seen enough punishment meted out to Usman and had to stop the fight in the eight round amidst protests from Usman’s corner.

With Sunday’s victory, Fuzile improves his record to 16-0; 6 knockouts while Usman’s record drops to 14-3; 12 knockouts.
