Genk’s goal machine Onuachu still dreams Arsenal move

Nigeria and Genk’s goal machine, Paul Onuachu, is reportedly hoping to end up an Arsenal player by the end of the summer.

The 6ft 7in forward has been a revelation at the Belgian club, smashing home an incredible 32 goals in 37 games in all competitions this season.

According to Voetbal Belgie, the 26-year-old is eyeing up a move to the Emirates and is optimistic he could land a dream Premier League move by the end of the upcoming transfer window.

The report revealed he’s willing and able to progress his career to the next step after lighting up the Belgian league.

Genk are believed to be willing to sell their prized asset as it could be the best time to cash in.

The Nigerian forward is contracted until 2024 and is believed to have a market value of around £15million.

Onuachu told Sporza: “I really like Arsenal. Emmanuel Adebayor, one of the players I admired most, played there.

“I really was a fan of him, including Nwankwo Kanu. I really love watching Arsenal too.”

Genk sporting director Dimitri De Conde admitted the player’s scoring has been unbelievable and the club will struggle to hold onto the prolific marksman.

He said: “I have to be honest if I had been told that at the start of the season, I would not have believed it.

“He scores, he progresses, he has stability. But just thinking about his possible departure, generates stress.

“As a sporting director, I want to see him stay. That said, it may be the moment for him to leave. It is a complex issue.

“Everything will depend on the market. Maybe we’ll find a solution with him, an offer he’ll accept.

“But, if there is a possibility for him to stay, I will do anything to seize it.”
