Gernot Rohr opens up on Super Eagles chances at AFCON 2021

 

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr says he’s confident about the chances of his team in the forthcoming African Cup of Nations.

The Three-Time African Champions have been drawn in Group D, where they will lock horns with the most successful team in the history of the competition Egypt, before facing minors, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

Reacting to the draw, Gernot Rohr, said the Group is tough, but he’s confident they will advance to the next round.

“The first game is Nigeria against Egypt, it’s going to be a very good game and other group game too.”

“We have to win our matches to advance to the round of 16. It is not an easy Group but we are confident,” he told journalists.

On how the team will prepare for the tournament, the Franco-German tactician said:

“We will have two friendly before the competition. We will start on the third day (11th of February). So we have to be in Cameroon on the 6th of February, So there is more time.

“We will be here to prepare and adapt to the weather, As for the stadium, we’ll go there tomorrow and look at the state of things.” He concluded.

Rohr led the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 edition of the tournament in Egypt.
