Giroud completes AC Milan switch in £1.6m deal from Chelsea

Olivier Giroud has left Chelsea for AC Milan in a deal understood to be worth up to £1.6m.

The 34-year-old leaves the Blues with a record of 39 goals in 119 games, helping the club win the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup in over three years.

“To all the Blues, to my team-mates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments,” Giroud tweeted on Friday.

“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent.”

Giroud arrived from Arsenal in a deal worth around £12m in January 2018 and leaves for Serie A for an up front cost of £800,000 with a further £800,000 in add-ons.

It is the second Chelsea player to sign permanently for Milan after defender Fikayo Tomori committed following a loan move.
