‘Give us Erling Haaland’, Chelsea fans cry out

Chelsea fans were left furious with the number of opportunities missed in front of the goal, demanding the signing of Erling Haaland following the Blues’ 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Thomas Tuchel’s side launched out of the blocks and went one up inside the opening half hour thanks to a tidy and composed finish from Kai Havertz, picking up from where he left off last season.

Granit Xhaka pulled a goal back for the Gunners in the second half before Tammy Abraham, who ironically has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, netted the winner just three minutes later.

Chelsea’s opening goalscorer, Havertz, signed last summer from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £71 million but had a difficult start to his new life in west London and appears to have hit the ground running upon his return to pre-season.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder spearheaded Tuchel’s strike force in the first half, joined by German counterpart Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, who struck the post, before the likes of Abraham and Michy Batshuayi among other entered proceedings.

However, despite the Blues walking away victors, Tuchel’s side narrowly evaded defeat after Emile Smith-Rowe also hit the post before Joe Willock had an evasive ‘ghost goal’ not given.

Following Chelsea’s win, some Blues fans stressed the the importance of signing Haaland ahead of the forthcoming season amid growing concerns regarding the side’s inability to convert chances.
