Golf tourney to honour General Chukwu ends in Enugu

 

No fewer than 150 golfers took part at the former Commander Civil Military Affairs Army Headquarters Abuja, Major-General Alphonsus Chukwu Golf kitty which ended at the Enugu Golf Club at the weekend.

The event was meant to celebrate General Chukwu’s birthday which also coincided with the month he  joined and was commissioned in the Army.

His son Joshua was also bone in June, while his father and mother were also born in the month of June and they died in the same month of June.

The event had crème de la crème of the game of golf across the country in attendance ably led by the Commander Air Tactical Command Enugu state Air Vice Marshall Antony Opara, Captains of Industries and government officials.

Described as a true gentleman by his colleagues in the military, Avm Opara said General Chukwu is a man you can trust adding that his word is his bound and inspiration to leaders in all aspects of lives.

Commander Army Secondary School Abakalik, Col Nicolas Achikasim said that General Chukwu is a Commander who will not put on his light if his troops do not have light in the barrack and a Commander who leads from the front in war and motivates his men to action.

Golfers from Abakaliki Golf Club led by their captain said that General Chukwu contribution towards the development of their club adding that his personal relationship with everyone in the state made them troop out to honour him.
