Gor Mahia relishing super shape ahead Lobi clash

Kenyan Premier League side, Gor Mahia were merciless in their match against Zoo Kericho on Wednesday.

Playing under a new coach Hassan Oktay following the resignation of former coach Dylan Kerr, Gor Mahia thrashed their opponents 4-0 with Ivorian import Ivorian Ephrem Guikan emerging the hero of the encounter.

Guikan, who reportedly has not been so impressive since joining the club last season, appeared to have resolved to double effort drawing the first blood in the opening minutes of the match played at the Kasarani Stadium

His second goal was from the spot after Samuel Onyango had been brought down inside Zoo’s box.

Onyango then scored the third in the 42nd minute before Ugandan import Erisa Ssekambu added the fourth. But the match was however not without incident as both teams ended with a man less Francis Kahata was sent off for Gor Mahia while Denis

Kawanga was sent off for Zoo Kericho after the two attempted to turn the game of football into boxing

Records indicate that this is the biggest win for Gor Mahia this year after a slow start.  The result may be serving as a major ginger ahead of the Sunday clash with Nigeria’s CAF Champions League campaigners Lobi Stars.

Hassan Oktay has expressed optimism that his boys will rise to the occasion against Lobi adding however that the match will not be a tea party for both sides. “It’s very important for us and for them as well, because we have home advantage on Sunday and we are going to focus on that game with the technical bench, I believe we are going to get a good result from there “,he enthused.

Lobi Stars Captain Anthony Agbaji just before departure to Nairobi revealed that the team’s desire is to either win away or hold their opponents to a draw to make the return sweat free. “My expectation is to get something from this trip. A win or draw. Nothing less” he said
