Great Summit Club boosts wheelchair tennis in Nigeria

It was indeed an exciting day for Nigerian wheelchair Tennis players on Monday, May 2, 2022, when the  Great Summit Club donated sporting equipment worth Million Naira to aid them in their training.

The items which include Tennis Rackets, Tennis Canvass, Tennis wears( top and shorts) and Tennis balls were physically handed to the players by the members of the  Great SUMITTEES led by the president, Summit Johnson Olorunsola.

This was actually the Great Sumittees second round of donations to the needy as the club had earlier donated wheelchairs to the Nigerian Tennis Federation for wheelchair tennis players and the Spinal Cord Injuries Association among others before now.

Speaking at the occasion, the Great Summit president, Johnson Olorunsola said promoting and engaging in ”PHILANTHROPY” acts for the needy is one of their primary aims and objectives.

He thanked the Nigerian Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Committee Nigeria for giving them the needed platform to showcase their gesture. He promised that the committees will look into wheelchair Tennis players and request for them to sponsor a wheelchair Tennis league in the country which will be the first of its kind.

The Great Sumittees supported the donation with #10,000 cash award to each of the players even as he commended Alex Adewale, Wasiu Yusuf, Foluke Shittu( France based), and Kafayat Omisore, the four players that won the bronze medals for Nigeria at the World Team Cup tournament for making Nigeria proud.

The Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Mr. Olabanji Oladapo, who was the special guest, commended members of the Great Summit Club for the donation likewise the Deputy Secretary of PCN, Dr. Sunny Odion who equally thanked them for the good gesture.
