Greek Cup: Ideye’s goal hands Aris advantage over Xanthi

Former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye was the match winner for Aris Thessaloniki over Xanthi FC in their Greek Cup round of 16 first-leg tie on Wednesday night.

The former West Bromich Albion striker netted the only goal of the match in the 17th minute and was on parade for the entire duration of the encounter.

Aris Thessaloniki will play host to Xanthi in the reverse fixture on January 14, with the winner sealing a quarter-final spot.

At the last count, Ideye, who joined Aris Thessaloniki during the summer window,  has netted seven times in 20 appearances for the Greek Super League campaigners this campaign and will be hoping to increase his tally in the coming fixtures.

“Done! We look forward to the next game,” Ideye tweeted moments after the match on Wednesday night.
