Greenwood Names Fulham’s Bryan As His Toughest Opponent

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has named Fulham’s Joe Bryan as his toughest opponent.

Bryan may have suffered relegation after a disappointing campaign with Fulham last season but at least the full-back  can say he made an impression when he faced up against Mason Greenwood.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Greenwood responded to United fan Phillip after he asked about his toughest challenge to date.

He said: “I’ve probably got to say, it might be a surprising one, but do you know [Joe] Bryan, the one for Fulham?

“He allowed me no space, no time on the ball, when we played them home and away. It was one of my most difficult games for us.

“He’s one you probably wouldn’t think I’d say his name, but he was getting tight to me and not giving me much space. He was a good defender and he was probably my toughest challenge.”

Given his experience playing in both Champions League and Europa League competition, many eyebrows were raised when the Manchester United forward revealed his answer. In fact, Bryan himself was clearly taken aback by his response.

The SPORTbible’s Instagram page soon posted Greenwood’s quotes and, after picking up over 100,000 likes, the 27-year-old eventually came across the forward’s compliment and asked: “What’s he been drinking then?”

In the same interview, Greenwood also gave his take on the ongoing Messi vs Ronaldo debate – and there’s a clear winner in his eyes.”For me, it’s always got to be Messi,” the young forward told MUTV.

“For me, he’s just on another planet. Ronaldo is obviously amazing, a physical, great athletic footballer. But to do what Messi does at his size, what he’s done for Barcelona and winning that trophy for Argentina, he is just on another level.”
