Gunners set to announce done deal as Gabriel J completes medical

Gabriel Jesus has reportedly completed his medical as he gets set to complete his £45million move to Arsenal from Manchester City.

The 25-year-old was seen getting out of a car and hugging the club’s technical director and Brazilian compatriot Edu, as he arrived in north London on Tuesday morning.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jesus successfully completed his medical and an official statement is ‘pending’ to confirm his move to the Emirates.

He is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Arsenal, as he looks to get regular starting time after failing to hold down a starting spot under Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester City forward looks set to make the switch to North London, joining Arsenal for £45 million

Jesus would be Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer, following Brazilian teenager Marquinhos, Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira and goalkeeper Matt Turner.

City stand to make a tidy profit on a player they paid around £27million for in 2017.

Jesus played an important role last season following the champions fruitless pursuit of Harry Kane but his chances will be limited following the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Despite scoring some key goals, consistency has been an issue throughout his five years at the Etihad Stadium.

Jesus’s contract expires next summer when he could have left on a free transfer and City continue to monitor their finances closely with others set to follow the striker out of the door as Pep Guardiola tweaks his side.

Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 appearances for Man City after arriving at the club for £27m in January 2017.

The deal is set to end Arsenal’s search for a striker following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, who is returning to Lyon. Arsenal elected not to buy a striker in the January transfer window despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Barcelona.

He will compete for a starting berth alongside academy striker Eddie Nketiah.

The Brazilian previously worked with Arteta, when the Spaniard was assistant to Guardiola at the reigning Premier League champions.
