Haaland spoils Dortmund teammates with Rolex worth £408,000

Erling Haaland has  given parting gifts to his Borussia Dortmund team-mates and coaching staff as he prepares to join Manchester City.

Premier League leaders confirmed earlier this month that they had reached an agreement in principle for the £51m signing.

Haaland will join Pep Guardiola’s side before next season on a massive five-year, £385,000-a-week deal to reach the Premier League.

Each watch is believed to cost around £12,385 each, meaning he has spent more than £408,000 in total on his team-mates.

In addition, 20 backroom staff members have received OMEGA watches.

Each of those watches is said to have cost around £4,128 each, meaning he spent an additional £82,500 in total on non-playing staff.

Haaland joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and has gone on to become one of the deadliest strikers in world football.

The 21-year-old Norwegian has scored a staggering 86 goals in 89 games for the Bundesliga side.

He will join Manchester City in the summer, after Guardiola’s side eliminated rival interest from LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

It is understood that his £385,000-a-week contract will put him in line with the club’s highest salary bracket, alongside Kevin De Bruyne’s salary.

City were expected to part with £63m to trigger a buyout clause in the 21-year-old’s contract, but secured Haaland for £12m less than that figure.

Haaland’s father, Alfie, is a former City player and negotiated the personal terms together with lawyer Rafaela Pimenta.

Agency fees and bonuses will bring the final payout to £85m. City believe the emotional bond Haaland’s family has with the club helped convince him to join.

He retired from Dortmund at the weekend, scoring a penalty in their 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
