Handball: Owena Queens, Kings fall  again

Ondo State teams, Owena Queens and kings, are having a torrid time at the Prudent Energy Handball League
as they lost their games yesterday.

Defending Champions Plateau Peacocks were in devastating mood as they hammered hapless Owena Queens of 44-11, while the Kings fell to Kano Pillars 27-34.

Peacocks lost to Edo Dynamos 18-19 on Matchday three but were ruthless against the Queens who are featuring mostly youngsters and few experienced players who were called out of retirement to salvage the team.

However, it doesn’t seem to be working for the Akure-based team who have lost all their matches in the tournament and even suffering a walkover in their first game.

Pillars continued their push for the top prize with the win over Owena Kings. Pillars are currently topping the table and have perfected ways of grinding out results in difficult situations.

Coach Aaron Okogie of Edo Dynamos got a befitting birthday present from his team as his girls beat homers Seasiders Babes 30-27.

Despite being a close contest, Dynamos powered to the famous win relying on their defence toward the end of the game. The Lagos team is no longer in contention for the top prize, but will surely retain their place in the top flight.

Desert Queens also recorded a win beating Abia Valiants 37-25, while Safety Babes also beat Kada Queens
30-23.
