Harry Kane/Nuno showdown talks: Tonight is the night!

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is set to hold showdown talks with manager Nuno Espirito Santo tonight to determine whether he will feature in Sunday’s game at home to Manchester City.

Kane has been the subject of interest from City throughout the transfer window and Nuno wants to determine whether the 28-year-old is physically and mentally ready to be involved, as reported by The Telegraph.

Tottenham are set to hold their final training session on Saturday afternoon, with Kane having only trained with his team-mates twice so far since returning from holiday.

Kane dismissed suggestions that he refused to train and it appears that the England international would be willing to play against City.

However, Nuno must consider whether Kane is ready physically as he returned to training later having been given time off following England’s defeat to Italy on penalties in the Euro 2020 final on July 11.

Speaking prior to the game, Nuno stressed that his selection decisions won’t be based purely on fitness.

He said: ‘All the decisions are not only based on fitness. It’s based on many, many aspects. Football players are not only professional, they are people.’

City, who have already spent £100million to bring in Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, are eager to complete a deal for Kane before the end of the transfer window.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is determined to keep Kane, who has scored 221 goals in 336 games for the club.
