Huge blow for Arsenal as Bukayo Saka suffers thigh injury

Arsenal suffered another injury setback on Sunday night as Bukayo Saka limped out of the Gunners’ Premier League clash at Sheffield United with an apparent thigh problem.

Saka has played 25 Premier League games this season for Arsenal, becoming one of Mikel Arteta’s key players in a difficult campaign for the Gunners.

The 19-year-old missed last weekend’s League defeat tot Liverpool through injury, but was back for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final draw against Slavia Prague.

Saka was named in the starting lineup for Sunday’s League trip to Sheffield United, but suffered another injury setback midway through the second half.

The England international appeared to suffer a muscle problem off the ball, and went down clutching his left thigh – though there is a chance the injury came following a clash with Rhian Brewster, in which case it could be a case of a dead leg.

After receiving treatment on the pitch, Saka limped off the pitch and was replaced by Willian. Saka was then seen in the Bramall Lane stands with ice taped to his leg to reduce swelling.

Arteta will hope Saka’s latest injury problem is not a serious one.

Arsenal are already missing Kieran Tierney and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayeng, and must get a result in the second leg of their Europa tie against Slvaia Prague in order to reach the semi-finals.
