Tottenham Hotspurs and England international Bamidele Alli has said he could understand why the Nigeria fans kept booing him during Saturday’s international friendly against the Super Eagles at the Wembley stadium.
The player went on twitter to reply the fans who felt he made a mistake by representing his adopted country.
“I do really understand the feelings of the Nigerian fans but I’am an England player, I’m English. There is nothing I can change about that now,” he tweeted.
Alli has a Nigeria father but decided to represent the Three Lions despite pleas from ex-footballer John Fashanu in 2015 to represent the Eagles.
It will be recalled that on February 5 2018, Ali’s parents pleaded with the player to let them back into his life but he refused.
“We just want our son back”,said Denise and Kehinde Alli.
As a child, Ali was sent to one of the best schools that charged £20,000 (N10m)-a-year as school fees.
