I made the right decision, Barca is the best club in the world – Aguero
Sergio Aguero becomes Barcelona’s first signing of the 2021/22 season. The Argentine signed a contract keeping him at the club until 2023 following ten years at Manchester City, where he became a legend of English football.
Aguero returns to La Liga for the first time since his spell at Atletico Madrid, a club with whom he aquired vital experience as their lead man in attack, scoring 102 goals in 234 appearances. Now, Aguero starts a new chapter in his career, alongside his compatriot and good friend Leo Messi.
The Argentine passed his medical before offering his long awaited first words as a Barca player, before his official presentation got started in what has been a busy day for the former-City man.
“The truth is that we all know Barcelona is the best team in the world, it’s right decision to be here and to be able to help the team achieve great things”, Aguero began.
The striker assured that it is “a step forward in his career” and that he is “very happy”, as well as that he intends to “bring a lot to the club”. “First I intend to play and try and help the team as much as I can. If the team is doing well, that’s what really helps because we are a team”, he continued.

“I want to give everyone a message and tell them that I intend to give my all and that I hope they enjoy my performances. While I may have worn the colours of other teams, I am now at this club and I will try and give my all”, a very happy Sergio Aguero expressed to ‘Can Barca’.
The Argentine also left a message of thanks to Atletico and City for everything they have given him throughout his career. “When I arrived at Atletico Madrid at 18-years-old it was a learning curve for me and it helped me a lot. At City everyone knows what the Premier League is like and so I had to change my style of play and I changed quite a lot as a player. I will try and bring here all the experience that I’ve made”.
