‘I remain Dortmund player’,Sancho waves off transfer speculations

Jadon Sancho has suggested he will be staying at Borussia Dortmund after stating he hopes to “guide” the younger players in the side, amid interest from Manchester United.

Dortmund fielded a number of teenagers as they beat SC Rheindorf Altach 6-0 in a friendly on Wednesday.

Jude Bellingham, who moved to the German side from Birmingham last month, was one of those to feature.

And speaking after the game, as cited by the Evening Standard, Sancho hinted that he hopes to be a part of their development.

“I love playing with this lot. It is a special bunch. We’ve got some special young players coming up,” he said.

“I’m really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them. I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors, I am happy for them.

“I joined when I was 17. Some of the lads are the same age. I’ve been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.”

Sancho’s comments come just days after Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc definitively said the 20-year-old will be staying at Signal Iduna Park.

Zorc appeared to rule out the possibility of any deal being done this summer. However, it had been reported that Sancho is considering handing in a transfer request to force through the move.

But his latest remarks suggest he is happy in Dortmund, meaning he is unlikely to kick up a fuss to secure a switch away.

Therefore, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to turn his attentions to some of his other targets this summer.

Reports have mentioned several alternatives, including Juventus’ Douglas Costa.
