On why he chose to play for the Austrian national team ahead of Nigeria, Alaba said: “I started playing for the Austrian national team at the age of 17 and by thattime, the Nigeria Football Federation did not make any approach for me to play for Nigeria.

The pacy full back who reeled out the names of top Eagles’ stars to the delight of everyone at the training pitch revealed that he eats Nigerian foods like fufu, eba and egusi soup.

“Yes, my dad usually prepares Nigerian foods for me at home. I eat eba, fufu with egusi soup”Alaba said he is also aware of the support from Nigerian fans and he was thankful for that.

“It’s so good to know that Nigerians support me because I’m part of them even when I chose to play for Austria. I’m really grateful for their show of support and love”
