With six days to its World Cup opening match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić has promised to field his best players to secure the vital points against the former Africa champions.

While addressing the media as Croatia landed in Russia this morning, Dalic said the first match is always important, hence his decision to parade the best.

“The expectations are very high. We are playing against a team that are physical in nature and unpredictable. Therefore l can’t take any chances. I am here to win all my matches so that we can qualify from the group,” he told the media.

He however declined to mention the names of his likely starters. “Saturday is around the corner. We have waited this far and l think we can continue until that day. But be rest assured it will be my best squad,” he said.

Obviously the likes Luka Modric, Dejan Lovren, Rakitic and Mandzukic should be on parade against the
Eagles who have never lost their World Cup opening game to a European nation since making their debut
in 1994.

Croatia will be based at Ilyichevo, Zelenogorsk which is 60 kilometers from St. Petersburg.
