Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo believes the Super Eagles must be more aggressive and be ruthless in fron of goal when they take on Iceland in their second Group D game of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Super Eagles lost 2-0 to Croatia in their opening game on Saturday, no thanks to an own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo and a penalty converted by Luka Modric and the Changchun Yatai striker says the team is ready to make Nigerians happy again.

“We did our best in the first game but our best was not good enough. We worked together as a team and in football whether win, loose or draw, the game still goes on. We are not happy about the loss and we are working very hard towards the next game and hopefully we are going to do what we know how to do best and make the fans happy again.

“Friendly game is different from main tournament. This is FIFA World Cup and every team is prepared, Croatia team has been playing for long, only two players are missing from the team that played the last World Cup. They have been bonding together and have a very good team. In our team, we have only two players that have played the World Cup before, young team growing. I think we lack a bit of experience and with what we experienced in the first game, we are going to learn from it and do well in the next game.

“Mistake is part of football, if some teams don’t, make mistakes, the other team will not win. I think in our set pieces , we did some mistakes and we conceded the first goal and the second goal through penalty. So mistake is part of football and you have to learn from the mistakes. The coach is right that we did some mistakes we will no see it as the end of the world. We wil keep working hard and we are going to make it right.

“We lack a bit of aggressiveness in the last game and if we want to beat Iceland we have to be more aggressive because they are physical. We must be aggressive, ruthless in front of goal because in the last game we did not create enough chances in front of goals. We have to create enough chances, we have ton score goals. If you don’t score goals, you don’t win games. So we are going to de everything that will make us win the game.”
