Ighalo: I’m the perfect striker for United ahead Chelsea clash

Odion Ighalo has said Manchester United do not have a striker that plays him as he gets set to make his debut against Chelsea tonight in a premier league fixture.

Shortly after arriving Ighalo outlined how he would transform United’s front line and fans will be hoping to see the striker this evening.

Asked if he can make a difference, Ighalo told MUTV: “Yeah, because sometimes I watch the games and they don’t have like a striker who stays mostly in the middle.

“[Anthony] Martial likes to come from the side, even [Marcus] Rashford and all that. So they need someone in the middle who can keep the ball, hold the ball.

“Because I watched so many United games and they need that physicality there to keep the ball, to give, to make some movement. Which I believe, if everything goes well, I can add to the team.”

The striker, who was brought in on loan in January, has finally linked up with his new team-mates after two weeks of training on his own.

Mirror Sport revealed last week that Ighalo had been banned from Carrington while United were in Spain over fears of a potential coronavirus risk.

The ex-Watford forward was instructed to train away from the AON Training Complex over health and safety issues, instead working out at a Taekwondo Centre located near Man City’s Etihad Stadium.
