Ighalo ready for Man Utd debut as Solskjaer confirms he’s ‘desperate to play’

Odion Ighalo is ready for a Manchester United baptism of fire after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he is set to make his debut against Chelsea.

The former Super Eagles striker was stopped from joining team-mates on their winter training camp in Spain over fears he would be barred from re-entering the UK amid the coronavirus threat.

Ighalo has been working hard in the gym on his own and is set to start for Man Utd against Chelsea on Monday

However, Solskjaer is keen to get the Nigerian forward, 30, integrated with the team as quickly as possible.

And it looks like Monday’s trip to Stamford Bridge will be the perfect opportunity for the man signed on loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

Speaking about his availability for Chelsea, Solskjaer told manutd.com: “Yeah, he is going to travel with us.

“We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp.

“We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.”

If it doesn’t come there, then Ighalo can expect some game time against Club Brugge in the Europa League.

He has been given the green light to travel to Belgium for the round of 32 clash on February 20.

Ighalo has been working hard back in the UK while the rest of the United squad have been enjoying the sunshine.
