Ighalo sets new record in China

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has set a new goals record in the Chinese Super League after scoring for Changchun Yatai on Saturday.

The Nigerian who is presently the highest scorer with six goals in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was on target for Changchun Yatai in the 88th minute against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan.

Ighlo scored Changchun’s consolation goal in their 2-1 loss to set the record.

The Nigerian attacker has since rediscovered his form after a dismal World Cup outing.

He had once hit the 20-goal mark while in the colours of Watford in the Premier League in the 2014/2015 season.

He is likely to increase the tally before the season ends.
