Ighalo who will be making his first World Cup appearance with the senior team turns 29 years old on Saturday believes it will be a thing of joy to cap the day with victory, if possible getting a goal against a Croatia side that will be parading one of the best midfields at the tournament.
“It would be special to score on Saturday as my wife will also be around to watch this game,”said the China based striker who has repeatedly said he is not under pressure to score goals.
The former U-20 captain established himself in the Super Eagles squad after two five-star displays in the crucial back-to-back qualifiers against African champions Cameroon in September. He scored the goal that inspired Nigeria to coast past the Indomitable Lions 4-0 at home, and went on to claim an assist in the team’s 1-1 draw in Yaounde four days later.
