Iheanacho fires hat-trick in training

Kelechi Iheanacho was the centre of attention during Saturday’s final training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo after he fired a sensational hat-trick between Team Green and Team Bib.

The Leicester City forward left no one in doubt regarding his seriousness to pick one of the slots to the 2018 World Cup and he was all over Team Bib in the encounter which ended 3-1 in his sides’ favour.

Team Green featured Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Kenneth Omeruo, Uwa Echiejile, Leon Balogun, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ogenyi Onazi, Joel Obi, Junior Lokosa, Tyrone Ebuehi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Simeon Nwankwo while Team Bib had Daniel Akpeyi, Williams Troost Ekong, Ola Aina, Brian Idowu, StephenEze, Uche Agbo, Odion Ighalo, Shehu Abdullahi, John Ogu, Ahmed Musa and John Mikel Obi.

There were opportunities for Francis Uzoho, Mikel Agu, and Alex Iwobi to have some playing time in the second half after they replaced Akpeyi, Agbo, and Ighalo in that order for the Team Bib while Dele Ajiboye came in for Ezenwa for Team Green.

Iheanacho had a good game besides scoring three goals he was regularly going back and forth to retrieve the ball from the opposing team while Mikel Obi, Omeruo, Echiejile, Shehu, Etebo, Eze and others showed that they will have something to prove in Russia if they are picked to represent Nigeria.

Ighalo scored a goal and was also not quiet while Nwankwo could be one of the team’s jokers if taking to Russia with the way he played throughout. He kept Ekong, Eze, and others in the defense of Team Bib on their toes and he also provided the assist with which Iheanacho scored one of his goals.
