I’m going to fight for Arsenal shirt, says Saka

After setting a new Premiership record following his debut against Fulham on New Year’s day, Arsenal’s starlet and Nigeria-born Bukayo Saka believes he has a lot to offer for the Gunners.

Also, for making his debut in Arsenal’s 4-1 bashing of Fulham, Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright took to Twitter to lavish praise on Saka for his first Premier League appearance in the north London side’s comfortable win on New Year’s Day.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was quick to pay tribute to Saka. Wright wrote on Twitter:  “Congratulations on your @premierleague debut @BukayoSaka87. A very special moment for you and your family. Hard work to come but enjoy tonight with your loved ones ”

Saka became the first player born in 2001 to feature in the Premier League when he came on as a second-half substitute for Arsenal against Fulham at the Emirates and the starlet who only turned 17 in September, turned down Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Watford to sign for Arsenal as a child.

According to Thesportreview, Saka was very delighted at making his Premier League debut, while admitting that he felt “blessed” to be able to make his Premier League debut.

Saka came off the bench to replace Alex Iwobi for the final few minutes of the top flight clash. The 17-year-old also made two appearances in the Europa League for Unai Emery’s men this season and he will be hoping to keep impressing in a Gunners shirt.

He told Arsenal’s website after the game, Saka said: “Right now I’m feeling so happy. I feel blessed to have made my debut and get minutes on the pitch. I just want to thank my family, my friends and everyone at the club who’s helped me to get to this stage.

“It’s been a tough stage, a long stage, but through hard work and determination I managed to get here. I’m not stopping now. I’m very hungry. I just want to work hard with every chance I get. In training I just want to impress the coach so I can get back on the pitch.”

Saka was born in England and he is of Nigerian descent. Saka has represented England at U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels.
