I’m good enough to manage Liverpool, says Gerrard

Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard, has confidently said he won’t seek any favours when it comes to applying for the Liverpool job.

Gerrard is on the verge of securing legendary status at Rangers, with his side just seven points away from a memorable Scottish Premiership title.

His imminent success north of the border has increased optimism that Gerrard could return to Liverpool as manager when Jurgen Klopp’s reign comes to an end.

But he insists he will only return to Merseyside if the owners believe he is good enough for the job, not for the romance of a reunion.

“I understand why (people expect him to succeed Klopp) because I was captain for so long and a large chunk of the fanbase would like me back at the club,” he told Danny Murphy in an interview for The Mail on Sunday.

“But I’m bright enough to realise that, first and foremost, you have to be good enough. The owners need to think you’re the right man.”
