I’m receiving enough inspiration from teammates, says Daka

Zambia international became the Club’s all-time leading goalscorer in Europe after he built on his four strikes against Spartak Moscow with another effort, this time on Filbert Way.

His opener was followed by a lovely effort from James Maddison, before Wilfred Ndidi nodded in a third after Filip Mladenović had pulled one back for the visitors.

He told LCFC TV: “It was an amazing performance from the team tonight, great football, a great atmosphere from the fans. It was a really important victory for us tonight.

Striker Patson Daka speaks to LCFC TV after scoring in Leicester City’s 3-1 success over Legia Warsaw on Thursday.

“I’m a goalscorer, I know my responsibility, I know my job, so I just have to make sure that I’m in the right place at the right time and of course, I know the quality that we have in the team, so I just have to put the icing on the cake.

“It also shows the confidence that I’m receiving from the team, and support, so I just make sure I utilise every chance that I get.”

Although the second half ended goalless, Daka was thrilled with the damage City inflicted in the opening 45 minutes, and was particularly pleased he was able to move out the way of Maddison’s fine curler.

We knew how important this game was. While we were playing at home, we needed these three points, and on top of the group now, we just have to make sure that we go and finish the job in Napoli.

He said: “I was so afraid, because I thought maybe I interfered with it and maybe I’d be caught offside, so I made sure to move out of the way, because I know the quality that Maddison has. To the left, to the right, every foot is comfortable. I was just ready to go for the rebound in case of anything!

“We had a great first half. We knew that the second half was going to be difficult and we made sure that if we’re not going to get another then we don’t have to concede another goal. The start was really brilliant for us, and I feel like the second half was tough, but we expected it. At the end of the day, maximum points was what was important for us.
