Napoli’s Dries Mertens is reportedly set to be out for 10 days after picking up an ankle injury against Barcelona.
Mertens had opened the scoring in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with Barcelona but moments before
Antoine Griezmann cancelled him out, the Belgian was forced off with injury.
And according to Sky Sport Italia, he will need 10 days to recover from a ‘severe bruised ankle’ and will miss this weekend’s Serie A clash against Torino and potentially the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final with Inter Milan on March 5.
He sustained the injury when Sergio Busquets hit him with a high foot in Naples early on in the second half.
Mertens should be fully fit in time for the Champions League return leg against Barcelona at the Nou Camp on March 18.
The Serie A outfit will need to produce a heroic display if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the quarter finals.
And Gennaro Gattuso will be desperate to count on Mertens, who scored a spectacular opener at the Stadio San Paolo on
Tuesday after curling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
